You Are Creative…
I can’t tell you how many times someone has said to me,
“I don’t have a creative bone in my body.”
And every time I hear it, something in me wants to lovingly push back.
Because here’s the truth:
If you were created by a Creator… then creativity is already woven into you.
Genesis tells us we were made in the image of God — and the very first way God reveals Himself is as a Creator. He speaks, forms, imagines, shapes, and brings life out of nothing. That means creativity isn’t reserved for artists, painters, photographers, or musicians.
It’s part of our design.
Creativity doesn’t always look like art on a wall.
Sometimes it looks like problem-solving.
Sometimes it looks like cooking without a recipe.
Sometimes it’s building a business, arranging a room, writing words, planting a garden, teaching a child, or finding a new way forward when life feels stuck.
I think we’ve done ourselves a disservice by labeling creativity as a talent instead of a human need.
Because creating does something powerful in us.
When we create — in any form — it flips a switch in our brain. It moves us out of survival mode and into curiosity. It quiets the anxious, overthinking part of our mind and invites another part of us to come alive. It helps us process, breathe, and see differently.
It’s not indulgent.
It’s healthy.
It’s holy.
I’ve seen it again and again — when someone gives themselves permission to create, something shifts. Their shoulders relax. Their thoughts slow down. They reconnect with joy, even if just for a moment.
And that matters.
You don’t have to “be good” at it.
You don’t have to show anyone.
You don’t have to monetize it or justify it.
You just have to begin.
Because when you create, you are echoing the heart of the One who created you. You’re stepping into alignment with how you were designed to function — not just to produce, perform, or push through… but to imagine, explore, and bring something new into the world.
Reflection:
Where have you believed the lie that creativity isn’t for you?
What might happen if you gave yourself permission to create — not for an outcome, but for your own healing and wholeness?
You were made in the image of a Creator.
Creativity isn’t something you lack — it’s something you’ve maybe forgotten how to use.
And it’s never too late to begin.
